Aftermath Reviews CHIA 2015 Conference

Convention season is upon us at last! And as the weather warms up so does the Aftermath Marketing team. Last week, Aftermath representatives Stephen Brown and Tony Cusinato attended the California Homicide Investigators Conference, hosted by the California Homicide Investigators Association (CHIA). This annual training conference brings together homicide detectives, coroners, crime scene technicians, investigators, and prosecutors from across the nation.

During the event, participants attend valuable training seminars, presentations, and workshops. In addition, the conference provides an excellent networking opportunity for the law enforcement community, and allows vendors to showcase products and services that help police and other officials do their jobs safely and efficiently.

According to the website, CHIA was formed in 1968 when homicide detectives gathered to discuss the infamous Zodiac Killer case. In time, the meeting expanded to become the largest organization of homicide and death investigation professionals in the United States. Today, CHIA has over 3,000 members, located throughout the United States and Canada.

Aftermath Visits CHIA 2015

This year’s conference was held in sunny Las Vegas, Nevada, from March 3rd through the 5th. Of the crime scene cleaning companies that attended, Aftermath was the only company with a nationwide presence. Stephen and Tony were on hand to answer questions and discuss Aftermath and our services. “Often officers think that we mainly pursue commercial or government contracts. They think about a few of the services we offer, like jail cell and squad car cleanups or crime scenes on public property. What many are surprised to find out is that the majority of our work is residential; that we help families in a very direct way,” said Stephen.

To promote the Aftermath mission, the booth featured giveaways like books of tear-off business cards that can be handed out when families inquire about cleanup assistance, as well as pens and notebook padfolios. Aftermath also gave away PPE kits and a 511 tactical bag. The lucky winner of the tactical bag, announced at the end of the conference, was a member of the Los Angeles Police Department. As always, attendees and other law enforcement professionals are invited to request free marketing materials through the Aftermath website.

Officer Safety and Community Relations

Other topics widely discussed at the conference include officer safety and the subject of community relations. Aftermath is deeply concerned with both issues, and is an active advocate for continued safety education in the form of bloodborne pathogen (BBP) training and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) through awareness presentations, specially designed posters and brochures as well as online articles. Community relationships are also a long-standing concern for the Company, and Aftermath does its part to promote a positive image of law enforcement through social media and other outlets.

Furthermore, to show continued support for those who protect our safety, Aftermath created the Aftermath Cares program on Facebook. This page is designed with law enforcement in mind, sharing positive articles and news, as well as helpful tips and useful information on a daily basis.

WIN PPE OR A TACTICAL KIT!

In addition, Aftermath hosts regular contests just for first responders! This season, Aftermath is giving away over 100 PPE kits and five 511 tactical bags, just like the one we gave away at the CHIA conference. If you couldn’t make the conference, you still have a chance to win! The drawing is free to all those who work in law enforcement and everyone in your department is welcome to enter. One entry per person though, please. The contest ends March 31st, 2015 and the lucky winners will be announced in April. To register, simply visit our website.
