Just 10 Days Remain in the 2016 Aftermath K9 Grant Competition!

We're giving away $5000 to any law enforcement office for: k9 program, officer training and safety equipment.

Autumn is well underway, and so is the 2016 Aftermath K9 Grant competition! In its fifth year, more departments are participating and the excitement is greater than ever. Many readers have been tracking their local department as we narrow down the top contenders for the grand prize. Which furry heroes will take home the title of top dog this year? Find out soon!

In the past weeks, we’ve shared videos and stories featuring the Lake County Sheriff’s Office in Illinois, showing what dogs like Dax, Diesel, and Duke can do. This week, we share some of our favorite photos of last year’s winning trio, before revealing our current leaders of the pack. Just ten days remain in the competition, so keep voting and stay tuned for the winning announcement on November 3rd!

How to Create Your Own Happy Tail

Whether your local police already has a K9 Unit, or they’re hoping to add one soon, the Aftermath K9 Grant can help. The grant awards $5000 to one lucky organization, for either the creation or maintenance of a K9 unit. All you have to do is visit our registration page and fill out the form, including the name of your local police department. Then be sure to share the link and encourage your friends and neighbors to vote, too! There are still ten days left to get in your votes and you can vote every day.  The form is located here.

Howling Good Times

Meet the photogenic heroes of the Lake County Sheriff’s K9 Unit, winners of the 2015 Aftermath K9 Grant. You may remember them from our YouTube promotional video. While these guys may be ready to pass on the torch to another K9 team, Duke, Dax, and Diesel will always be winners in our book! In the last year, we spent some time with them and learned about each of their unique personalities. Despite the costs, K9 units are a vital part of police work. Not only do they save hours of man power, but they save lives, too. These photos only begin to capture the unique and important role these animals play in helping their partners serve and protect the citizens of Lake County.
