On June 26th, Aftermath joined nearly 300 funeral directors and professionals at the 2017 IFDA Convention. Sponsored by the Illinois Funeral Directors Association, the conference was held at Tinley Park Convention Center, in Tinley Park, Illinois. Representing Aftermath was the company’s Funeral Home Relations Specialist, Heather Tapscott.
According to the IFDA website, “Funeral Directors with a passion for excellence have been flocking to the Annual Convention to explore and celebrate the art and science of funeral care since 1880.” That’s nearly 140 years of education, information, and networking!
The motto, “Connect. Learn. Grow.” expresses the organization’s overall goal, and this was illustrated throughout the event. The convention format consisted of seminars, and providing the continuing education directors need. There was also resource-based training to help directors better assist the families they work with.
Though vendors had only a short time to visit with attendees during breaks, the time spent was invaluable. Mortuary students in particular were curious to learn more about our services, and took time to educate themselves on the subject of biohazard cleanup. Numerous directors stopped by the booth to update their information and speak to Heather.
Aftermath also hosted a drawing for a $50 Visa gift card, and handed out resource guides as well as water bottles, air fresheners, pens, and carabiners. Jennifer Steil of Stabb Funeral Home in Springfield was the winner of the drawing.
Aftermath has attended the IFDA Conference for several years, and prides itself on a maintaining a strong relationship with directors and other professionals working in the death care industry. For Heather, one of the most rewarding parts about the conference was listening as directors expressed appreciation for the services the company provides.
Thanks to the IFDA for allowing us to feature our company at this year’s event. To those who visited with us, we look forward to seeing you next year in Springfield! Meanwhile, if you are a director and are looking for more information on our director programs, please check out our webpage.
