There was no trick to our visit! The New Jersey State Division of the International Association for Identification hosted it’s 29th annual educational conference on October 2nd-4th. The highly respected organization chartered the NJ division in 1986, encompassing all 21 Counties in the state. This year’s conference was held in Atlantic City at the Tropicana Hotel and Casino.
This was the first year the meeting also featured vendors. “A board member knew of our company from NJSCOA and reached out to us to see if we would attend,” explained John Tyler of local Aftermath Company, CSCU. Tyler was joined by Aftermath’s Senior Manager of Law Enforcement Relations, Ken Rosa.
Though the event was on the small side, nearly all those who attended made a stop at the Aftermath booth. “The organizers did a great job making certain the attendees had plenty of time with the new vendors,” John reported. “They even brought around ice cream sandwiches in a cooler during break.”
An officer from Burlington County, NJ won the booth prize, a 5.11 tactical bag and PPE kit. There were also plenty of giveaways: “Between the ice cream, the AMS giveaway, and Halloween candy, we were happy to take care of attendees with a sweet tooth,” John said.
John and Ken also had a fair bit of serious discussion with attendees during the three day event, but the most memorable part of the NJ IAI Conference was getting to meet Officer McElwee and his K9 partner, Doc. Officer McElwee gave a live demo of Doc’s skills and graciously announced the Aftermath K9 Grant to the audience. When not attending workshops or visiting with vendors, many of the attendees enjoyed the Atlantic City nightlife, including great restaurants and casinos.
As John and Ken describe it, visiting this year’s NJIAI was a true treat. “CSCU/AMS is the leader in the biohazard cleanup Industry servicing this area,” explained John. “We have a great response time and great local references, helping others in need of our services. While many came to the event already knowing about the companies, it was great to further develop those relationships in person. Members also really appreciated us coming out and supporting the event.”
Aftermath is a proud supporter of law enforcement nationwide. To find out if we will be visiting your next local conference, follow us on Twitter at @aftermath90 or visit our Facebook page.
