Aftermath Attends the 2015 NFDA Conference in Indianapolis

As the annual NFDA Conference wraps up, we take a few moments to catch up with the Aftermath crew who attended the event. Sponsored by the National Funeral Directors Association, the event was hosted in Indianapolis this year and included educational sessions, meet-and-greets, and an expo of products and services beneficial to the funeral industry. Aftermath attendees included Jeremy Friedrich, Manager of Funeral Home Relations, and Kristin McKenna, Manager of Law Enforcement Relations.

Jeremy works closely with directors to target matters that are of concern to those in the death care business. Jeremy began his career with Aftermath as a field technician before assuming the responsibilities of project manager at the home office location in Aurora, IL. With his broad background, he educates directors on the risks associated with biohazards so that they can share this valuable information with their clients and communities.

Based out of the Boston area, Kristin provides directors with a unique and professional perspective on cleanup services and how Aftermath helps take care of families who have from suffered tremendous and difficult loss.

Aftermath has attended the NFDA Conference for several years, and prides itself on a maintaining a strong relationship with the organization and those working in the death care industry. While at the event, several directors approached and told Jeremy and Kristen that they appreciate what the company does. Jeremy relates: “It was a great opportunity for us to get feedback from the directors. Many had heard about the impact we have on families and that the quality of our work is outstanding. Overall, it was a very positive environment for exchanging information.”

As part of the expo, the Aftermath booth hosted a drawing for a Kindle Fire, and handed out resource guides for directors and families, as well as water bottles, bags, air fresheners, pens, and carabiners. But the conversations were more exciting than the giveaways. “Even as a vendor, I learned a tremendous amount about the funeral business,” Jeremy said. “I met funeral directors from China, Australia, Argentina, Norway, and Canada. It is interesting how different cultures handle funerals. Also, it was interesting to learn about their laws and regulations.”

When not at the conference, directors caught up with colleagues in one of the many local Indianapolis restaurants. While the weather was nice, they were able to walk to many activities nearby and explore some of the historic downtown area, including the Indiana State Museum, where opening night festivities were held.
