This year, to protect those who serve our communities, we outfitted five departments and 100 individual officers and first responders with PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) kits. Grand prize winners were awarded 50 PPE kits for their department.
One of the five grand prize winners was the DeLand Police Department in DeLand, Florida. Hear more from Police Chief Jason D. Umberger of the Deland Police Department as he explains the importance of having PPE and what it means for his officers.
Aftermath has been a long-time supporter of law enforcement and we’re committed to helping officers carry out the vital work of protecting our communities. We understand that every time a police officer puts on his/her uniform, their safety is at risk – especially when stepping into a crime scene that may contain blood and other biohazards. Without proper PPE, there is a very real risk of exposure to bacteria and viruses like Hepatitis, MRSA, and HIV. PPE is quite literally the final layer of defense against chemical, radiological, electrical, physical and mechanical material. Aftermath is proud to award more than 300 PPE kits this year to protect and correctly outfit departments and individuals in the field.
