There’s a Festive Future in Store at Aftermath in 2017

Have a Happy New Year!

The holidays are finally over, and many of us are looking forward to taking a break from parties, shopping, and relatives. If you’re starting the year off right, you’re hopeful about new beginnings. Perhaps you’ve made a few resolutions that you aim to keep. As a company, Aftermath is excited about new prospects, but we’re also looking forward to reaffirming the core principals that make us the nation’s leading biohazard cleanup company. This year promises to be one of great opportunity –  join us for a quick look ahead at Aftermath in 2017.

More PPE Giveaways for Law Enforcement:  According to the CDC, in the United States alone, over 1.1 million people carry the HIV virus, and more than 2.7 million people have contracted Hepatitis C. Whether in a jail cell, police vehicle, or at the scene of a crime, using proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is the most widely known and effective means to protect against potential exposure to bloodborne diseases.  For this reason, we routinely give away PPE kits to law enforcement agencies. Last year, our Spring PPE Giveaway had over 1400 entries and 105 winners, including 5 grand prize winners. Then in December, we played Santa and gave away an additional 125 PPE kits to departments nationwide, including a dozen kits to a department in need. The good news is that we’re doing it again! Our plan for 2017 includes the annual PPE contest, starting in March. Throughout the year we’ll also feature other opportunities and giveaways, so stay tuned.

The 3rd Annual Aftermath Scholarship Contest: During the month of June, Aftermath will sponsor its 3rd annual scholarship and essay writing contest. The 2016 Aftermath Services Collegiate Scholarship and Essay Contest drew over 1000 entries from students in a wide variety of fields, from film to criminal justice. The scholarship program advances our educational mission by emphasizing the roles and responsibilities of the death care industry. Additional details about this year’s event, including the 2o17 essay topic, will be made available in the coming months.

The Annual K9 Grant Will Return in October: Open to law enforcement agencies nationwide, Aftermath’s 5th Annual K9 Grant Competition involved over 3,000 law enforcement organizations nationwide. Civilians and officers nominated and voted for their local agency, and the departments were encouraged to get involved by promoting the contest to colleagues, friends, and neighbors. In total, over 142,000 votes were received during the month-long event – almost triple the number of votes from the previous year! The $5,000 grant was awarded to the Alamogordo Police Department of New Mexico, and the company also awarded smaller grants to four runners up. This is our most exciting contest. We’re looking forward to hearing more about last year’s winning K9s in the coming months…and awarding more grants to this year’s leaders of the pack.

More Visits and Conferences: Aftermath is determined to spread the word about the importance of safety precautions and proper trauma cleanup. Throughout the year, Aftermath representatives meet directly with funeral directors, insurance professionals and members of law enforcement at professional conferences and meetings. We also provide materials and promotional items at no cost to any partner or organization whose communities and families may be in need of crime scene cleanup and biohazard remediation services. If you are looking for marketing materials to distribute to families in need, see our representatives at one of these conferences or use our online order form.

New Year, New Locations: The new year heralds change as a positive force, but one thing will remain the same in 2017, and that is our commitment to helping families. This means adding new locations in areas where service is needed most. We’ll be announcing our latest office this February, and plans are already in the works for several others. If you experience a tragedy in your home this year, call Aftermath Services nationwide at 877-872-4339.
