Aftermath Reviews the Michigan Sheriff’s Association Conference & Trade Show

In today’s blog, Aftermath reviews the 2016 Fall Professional Development Conference & Trade Show, hosted by the Michigan Sheriffs Association (MSA) at the Lansing Center & Radisson Hotel in Lansing, MI. Tony Cusianato, Aftermath’s Senior Manager of Law Enforcement Relations, attended the event. As always, a great big thanks to those who planned the trade show, and to the men and women in law enforcement who visited the Aftermath booth! Read on to learn more:

Welcome to Michigan

According to the MSA website, the organization has been serving Michigan residents and officers for over 130 years. They describe their role as “providing education, training and programs in your community and to your Sheriff and his staff. Current issues include Safe Schools, Teenage Driver Safety, Identity Theft, Homeland Security, Senior Citizen Safety,Victim Service Teams, Mental Health and Line of Duty Death Assistance.”

Tony described the atmosphere of the show as positive and upbeat. In addition to the general session, there were several sessions for specific professional roles, including jail administrators and administrative assistants. Between workshops, visitors browsed the many vendor booths to learn more about services and products that relate to the industry. Of those who visited with Aftermath, attendees were curious to learn about the cost of Aftermath’s services, as well as the areas covered by our various office locations.

Excitement Inside and Outside the Vendor’s Hall

There was a great deal of excitement among attendees concerning the keynote speaker, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder. During his speech, Snyder addressed current issues facing law enforcement in the state of Michigan. He also visited with attendees and vendors, including Tony (see photo above).

Other guests of honor included Lieutenant Governor Brian Calley, Secretary of State Ruth Johnson, and State’s Attorney General Bill Schuette.

Though the speakers and workshops at the conference were top notch, the vendor area was not to be outdone either! Aftermath gave away many booth prizes and held a drawing for a 5.11 Tactical bag with PPE kit. The winner was Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Lieutenant, Michelle Greenlee.
