Aftermath Visits Chief’s Annual Conference in North Carolina

This past January, Aftermath traveled to Cherokee, North Carolina for the North Carolina Association of Chiefs of Police Annual Conference. The conference, held at Harrah’s Hotel and Convention Center, was attended by over 250 chiefs, deputies, and other members of law enforcement. It was the first time Aftermath attended the event. Aftermath’s Senior Manager of Law Enforcement Relations for the region, Mike Webster, was on hand to represent the company.

According to past President and Chief Jerry Welch, the organization was initially conceived of in 1975 by “several police chiefs and a fast thinking instructor from the new North Carolina Justice Academy.” The NCACP was officially formed in 1976 to encourage progressiveness and professionalism among the law officers of North Carolina, while addressing the concerns of all citizens through various projects and programs designed to facilitate cooperation and collaboration with North Carolina communities.

Mike attended several days at the conference, which had an open schedule. “The interaction was great,” Mike said. “Workshops and meetings were organized throughout the day, and it was more easy going than many of the conferences I have attended. I felt there was plenty of time to meet with and speak to the chiefs and other attendees.”

While at the booth, Mike spoke to a good number of visitors. As the only biohazard cleanup company in attendance, he fielded many questions about the location of Aftermath’s offices and how the company works with home insurance to provide families with the services they need.  In addition to passing out information and marketing materials, Mike also gave away a few prizes. Chief James Avers and Chief Sean Joll of River Bend Police Department both won PPE kits and AMS duffle bags.

“Conferences like this are a great way to reach our law enforcement members, who are working directly with families in crisis,” Mike said. “It also gives me a chance to speak to them about some of the programs and contests we sponsor that are directed at police, including our K9 grant and the Safety Matters contest.”

Mike also stated that he talked with numerous Chiefs who had already heard of Aftermath’s programs and how the company supports law enforcement: “The ones who knew of Aftermath had really positive things to say, and that was a good feeling. I always look forward to meeting the people who are on the front lines, helping families and keeping our communities safe.”
