For the last six years, Aftermath Services has sponsored the annual Aftermath K9 Contest as a way to help departments offset the cost of creating and maintaining their K9 units. Along the way, we’ve expanded aspects of the contest to promote community engagement and build continued awareness about the importance of these four-legged officers.
Competition is FIERCE
Since voting opened in October, Aftermath has received almost 275,000 votes from across the US. This means we’ve nearly doubled last year’s participation! As word has gotten out about the grant, we’ve increased the awards we give so that more departments are rewarded for their efforts. This year, $15,000 in grant money will be awarded to the 5 finalists.
In just 5 days, the 2017 K9 Grant Competition will come to an end. Good news is that there’s still time to get your paws on one of this year’s 5 grants. Make sure your local K9 is one of this year’s leaders of the pack. Visit our voting page and vote every day for your favorite department!
This Week’s Leaders of the Pack
Every Friday during the contest, we’ve recapped the top vote-getters. It’s still anyone’s game because this year’s competition is tighter than ever; it will come down to the last hours before we determine the top 5. Though there is less than a week to cast your votes, remember that every vote counts and as excitement builds so does the vote count. Don’t forget to vote each and every day for your favorite K9.
Looking to step out from the pack and take the lead? Collect last-minute votes from friends and neighbors by sharing the voting page or this post on social media. You’ll be helping the dogs, your local officers, and your community with just a simple entry form!
Keep reading for this week’s Top 75. The votes are so close that some are separate by ten votes or less!
Thank you to each and every department who has participated, and to the communities and individuals who support them! Your spirit and enthusiasm are contagious, and we’ve enjoyed seeing our social media flooded with photos and stories about these wonderful and courageous animals.
