Aftermath hopped right into spring conference season with a great midwestern conference this week. The Annual Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System Conference was hosted Sunday and Monday at the Crown Plaza in Springfield, Illinois. Over 400 members of law enforcement visited the event, and Pat Leone, Aftermath’s Senior Manager of Law Enforcement Relations for the Midwest, was also in attendance.

ABout ILEAS

The Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System (ILEAS) was formed in 2002 in response to the September 11th attacks. It was originally a joint venture of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police, the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association, and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency. Since its formation, it has expanded to include nearly 900 local agencies. The group’s mission is to assist local law enforcement throughout the State of Illinois “in matters of mutual aid, emergency response and the combining of resources for public safety and terrorism prevention and response.”

This year’s show was heavily attended by command staff from both sheriffs offices and local PDs. Vendors included mostly police equipment supply companies; Aftermath was the only biohazard company in attendance.

At the Conference

Pat described the overall reception as very positive and welcoming. Many of the attendees had already heard of Aftermath and some had even utilized the service at some point. “It was a great show with very welcoming people,” he reported. “The organizers even stopped by to check on us and thank us for visiting. It’s just an excellent event.”

In the vendor hall, there were plenty of opportunities to network and even win some great prizes. Deputy Kyle Mandernack of the Mchenry County Sheriff’s Office won a 5-11 tactical bag and PPE kit from Aftermath. Pat states that there was plenty of time to “talk shop” with ILEAS members. “There were lots of stories shared about past cases and current goings-on.”
