Recapping the Missouri Sheriff’s Association Conference

While it’s not the Bahamas, the Missouri Sheriff’s Association (MSA) did offer conference goers the best of the Ozarks last week. The organization’s yearly conference was held at Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, MO. Over 150 sheriffs, undersheriffs, and other law enforcement professionals visited during three day event. Aftermath’s Marketing team, including Tina Bao and Genna Hines, were on deck as attendees circulated the vendor’s hall on Wednesday.

Hard Work and Games Go Hand-in-Hand at MSA

The conference is part educational, part family fun and networking. The resort has an indoor water park and spa, so many attendees brought their spouses and even children. There were also plenty of working sessions to attend during the three day conference.

To encourage conference goers to visit the vendor booths, MSA sponsored a passport game where participants could receive a “stamp” from each vendor and win prizes. Though it made visiting fun, conference goers took the opportunity seriously.  “They really made time to discuss our services,” Tina remarked. “Many of the sheriffs also thanked us for our support when they stopped by. One sheriff promised that he would tell all of the other sheriffs how great we were, and he made good on his promise, too! There were multiple times when other attendees were talking to us at our booth and he popped in and told them what a help we’d been.”

Many attendees asked questions and took brochures and other information. Of those who had not heard of the company, most were interested to learn about our coverage area. “They also asked if homeowners insurance paid for our services,” Tina reported. “There were also a number of sheriffs who already refer us to families in their areas. They were most interested in our convenient tear off cards.”

Giveaways Galore

The sheriffs also seemed to enjoy the free giveaways. In addition to brochures and other informational literature, Genna and Tina also distributed squishy “anti-stress” policemen, water bottles, chapstick, and the apparently popular air freshners: “Captain Cody Worthley of the Morgan County Sheriffs Office saw our air fresheners and said that he loved the fresh linen scent. We didn’t have any with us so we said that we would send him a shipment for his department. He said that he was going to hoard them, so we told him we would address the package to his department!” Keep an eye out for the package, Morgan County!

At the end of the conference, the vendors lined up at a big prize table to announce the winners of various drawings. Everyone had a lot of fun with this. One lucky sheriff won three prizes! Aftermath gave away a 5.11 Tactical bag with PPE Kit (pictured above), and those who didn’t win at the event were entered to win our Spring PPE Giveaway, going on now through 4/31.
