Last week, over 130 vendors gathered at the Ardmore Convention Center in Ardmore, OK for the annual Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police Training Conference and Exhibitor Show. An entire afternoon was devoted to businesses and services, and the crowd made the most of it.
Almost 200 attendees enjoyed the moving raffle and attended the OACP business meeting, held in the hall. Lunch and snacks were served. Many booths held raffles, and door prizes were given away. Aftermath contributed a PPE kit and 5.11 tactical bag to the cause. The company also awarded a $50 Visa gift card to one lucky winner, Chief Nate King of the Tahlequah Police Department.
Several charities and major organizations were represented at the conference as well, including the US Attorney’s Office and the National Child Safety Council. The Oklahoma Blood Institute and Total Wellness offered free health screenings and hosted a blood drive on site.
According to the organization’s website, “The OACP is an organization of law enforcement executives and their command support staff who promote professionalism in Oklahoma law enforcement. Our members come from different agency types and sizes.” As part of the group’s mission, events like June’s training conference help OACP members stay informed on important topics and technologies in policing.
Aftermath’s booth was manned by Rolando Barrientez, the company’s Senior Manager of Law Enforcement Relations in Texas and Oklahoma. Conference goers asked important questions about Aftermath’s services, including how families can get in touch with the company and whether officers can reach out for a family in need. Other important topics addressed how families pay for services; whether we work with insurance or the Oklahoma Crime Victim Compensation, and how our in-house payment programs work. Others were excited to learn more about the #WhyWeServe competition and service grant.
“Those who had never heard of the company before were happy to hear we not only cover Oklahoma, but the entire lower 48 states,” Rolando said. “Others simply stopped by to thank us for being there. For our first year at this event, it was beneficial and I’m excited to see what next year will bring.”
Many attendees had already heard of Aftermath and were glad to learn more so that they could pass that information on to families. “Several chiefs mentioned they had seen my name out there, and the company’s, and they were glad to put a face to that name.”
Rolando reflected: “I felt this was a great conference. The board of directors all stopped by to visit the booth and thanked us personally for attending. They blocked off a good amount of time just to focus on the vendors and ensured that the officers had plenty of opportunity to visit. Furthermore, the moving raffle encouraged officers to make their way around the hall to meet everyone during that period. It was a good feeling to know that our role in the conference was an important part of making it all happen.”
The OACP Training Conference and Expo is one of the many LE conferences Aftermath has attended this year. Keep an eye out for us at your next local event, or stay in touch with us through Facebook or Twitter. As always, we look forward to meeting you!
