Stopping in at the 2018 Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police Conference

The weather was as warm as the hospitality down in Savannah, Georgia last month as Aftermath visited the 2018 Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police Conference, held at the Westin Hotel July 21st-22nd. Aftermath’s Senior Manager of Law Enforcement Relations, Rodney Tower, represented the company. It was Aftermath’s second year in attendance at this event. Visiting the GACP Conference

According to the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP) website, “The Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police is dedicated to providing police services in the State of Georgia that are aimed at achieving more effective and efficient crime control, reduced fear of crime, improved quality of life, and improved police legitimacy, through a proactive reliance on community resources that seeks to minimize crime-causing conditions.”

The conference was highly attended by chiefs and their staffs, but it also included a few officers and their families. The vendor hall offered various types of vendors, though Aftermath was the only biohazard company at the show. As in years previous, vendors were situated in one area while training classes were held in another. Breaks and regular time blocks were scheduled for attendees to visit with vendors. Additionally, a dinner social was held one evening to encourage networking in a more casual setting.

Networking In the South

During his visit, Rodney spoke with chiefs about biohazard cleaning; many shared stories with him about situations where a cleanup company could have provided a family with assistance. “I find it’s a good feeling to be able to reassure the Chiefs that there is a company like Aftermath on their side. I passed out a lot of business cards and information, especially to smaller departments who were not aware we serviced the whole state of Georgia.”

The Aftermath booth featured conference swag like air fresheners, notepads, and key chains. Rodney awarded both a conference prize and a door prize, plus a pair of blue line t-shirts. The conference prize was given away at the booth; Chief Carol Martin of Gainesville Police Department won a 5.11 Tactical Bag and PPE kit, plus 2 Blue Line t-shirts. The door prize was awarded by GACP to Chief Ed Densmore of the Johns Creek Police Department. Chief Brian Childress of the Valdosta Police Department and Chief Wayne Dennard of Acworth Police Department both took home Aftermath Blue Line t-shirts.

On the Road Again

“This conference continues to be the best way for us to speak to chiefs and other officers in the Georgia area,” Rodney said. “From all the new faces to those who remembered us from last year, it’s good to know we’ll be able to help more families in the coming year.”
