The 2018 Aftermath K9 Grant is Here. Vote Now!

For the last 8 years, Aftermath Services has sponsored the annual Aftermath K9 Grant as a way to help law enforcement offset the costs of creating or maintaining a K9 Unit. Along the way, we’ve found new ways to foster community participation and involve even more departments. This year, agencies nominated on our website and through Instagram in the first half of the contest were entered and are now able to participate in the voting phase, which has already begun! Read on to learn more about how your favorite K9 Unit can become one of this year’s top dogs.

How to Help Your K9 Unit

It’s as easy as voting!

This year’s nomination period ran from October 1st through 16th; we received 11,454 nominations and 3,067 departments representing 48 states are now entered in the contest. Many fans have already tweeted, retweeted, followed and liked our pages and posts, in the hopes of gaining more votes for their local departments.

Voting opened on our Instagram on October 18th, and will continue on both our webpage and Instagram until 11:59pm PST on November 5, 2018. Any legal US resident 6 years of age or older with a valid email address at time of entry may vote in the competition.  Individuals may vote ONCE every 12 hours on the designated voting website and ONCE on Instagram.

As of Halloween, we have counted over 135K votes on our website and more than 10K Instagram votes – THANK YOU all for your support! Follow this link to vote for your local department now!

We are in the home stretch with only 5 days left of voting, and your department need your support more than ever! A literal handful of votes can change the current standings, so please keep voting and supporting your K9 unit and check out the current Top 20 Departments below.

Tips For Becoming a Leader of the Pack

Many of our past winners recommend reaching out to local media and community leaders to spread the word about the K9 Grant Competition. Their additional support will get your message out, and share the energy and the sense of connection that these skilled and valuable animals bring to their departments.

Others encourage engagement through sharing photos of their dogs and their fellow officers on their own social media pages; followers are excited to see the dogs in action and ready to take the winner’s circle. Be sure to connect with us on Twitter at @aftermath90 and check out our two Facebook pages for daily reminders and voting updates to share with your audiences. Our Aftermath Cares page is dedicated to information relevant to the law enforcement community, while our Aftermath Services page is our community page.

Get your vote in on our Instagram page and follow along for your daily dose of dog!

Finally, don’t forget to add hashtags like #AftermathK9Grant and #K9Grant to your posts, especially on Instagram. We love to learn about what you’re doing to promote your local K9 unit.
