The Results Are In! Announcing The Winners of the 2017 K9 Grant Competiton
And now it’s time. The much-anticipated results of our annual K9 grant are finally here! We had an amazing turnout for the grant this year, and it’s all thanks to you. This year, a total of 3,316 departments participated and over 330k votes were received (that’s more than double the number of votes in last year’s competition!). Furthermore, over 300 departments had 100 or more votes each, making for some fierce competition.
We are pleased to announce
the official winners of the 2017 K9 Grant Competition are:
1st Place, $5000 – Pekin Police Department, Pekin, IL
2nd Place, $4000 – Alamogordo Police Department, Alamogordo, NM
3rd Place, $3000 – St. Marys Police Department, St. Marys, GA
4th Place, $2000 – Avon Police Department, Avon, IL
5th Place, $1000 – Pflugerville Police Department, Pflugerville, TX
Because of the outstanding turnout and some very close numbers, we’ve also decided to award 3 additional winners with $500 grants. These 3 lucky departments are:
Miami Police Department, Miami, FL
Rooks County Sheriff’s Office, Rooks County, KS
Marietta Police Department, Marietta, OH
Aftermath would like to thank everyone who voted, shared, and participated in this year’s event. The more knowledgeable people are about these amazing animals and their contributions, the easier it is for departments to ensure that they have the support needed to keep their K9 units healthy and safe.
If you don’t see your department listed, we want to remind you to keep the momentum going for next year’s contest! Build your social and community networks by engaging others on the subject of K9s; follow and support your local K9 unit by sharing their stories. Also keep an eye on our blog for the official press release and interviews with this year’s winners, coming later this month.
