Top Four Most Controversial Deaths in Recent History

Murder, suicide, dramatic plane crashes. The lives of many of history’s most interesting characters often end on equally intriguing if not sad notes. The one thing these four well-known people had in common was that each of their deaths left us with many unanswered questions…including whether or not they actually died!

Amelia Earhart

Before Amelia Earhart’s mysterious disappearance in 1937, this legendary pilot was best-known for forging the way for women interested in pursuing aviation as a career. During her last ill-fated flight, Earhart’s plane supposedly ran out of fuel over the Pacific Ocean, and as a result her remains have never been uncovered. Despite her demise, Earhart remains a shining example of what the will to succeed can accomplish.

Tupac Shakur

Tupac Shakur was a highly-lauded rapper and actor achieving fame in the 90s. Despite Shakur’s undeniable talent, trouble followed him throughout his historic career, culminating in his shooting death in 1996. His death remains controversial to many, with some believing Shakur is still alive. These beliefs stem from the lack of resolution during the criminal investigation of his death, which remains unsolved to this day.

Andy Kaufman

Similar to Shakur, many fans believe famed comedian Andy Kaufman is still alive due to his jocular and prankish persona. Kaufman frequently made statements about faking his own death, which led to much speculation when the entertainer announced he had lung cancer in 1984. Fans continue the charade on behalf of Kaufman, with announcements made as late as 2004 claiming he was alive and well in some far off locale. Of course, these statements are exposed as hoaxes, which would have surely made the irreverent comic proud.

D.B. Cooper

In the case of D. B. Cooper, a notorious plane hijacker that exhorted $200,000 in ransom and escaped via parachute, no official record of his death actually exists. Some say Cooper made his escape via a sewer in Nashville, TN, and subsequently holed up with a famous musician, who eventually wrote a song about the curious case. As a result, stories continue to swirl around Cooper, including claims that he is still alive and in hiding somewhere in the U. S.
