(Modesto, CA) – As part of the three-stage biowash process, Aftermath technicians may encounter a variety of unique scenarios which require ingenuity and elbow grease, as well as a strong knowledge of cleaning and sanitization procedures. All of these came together when a Modesto, California family experienced the unimaginable: a relative passed away in her home and the tragic death went undiscovered for several days. Trained Aftermath technicians responded to the family’s request for remediation and arrived at the home to investigate the damage.
In the bedroom where the deceased was found, the bed was heavily impacted by decomposition. When an object is too large to fit in approved medical waste containers, technicians must disassemble the item to separate out the contaminated elements. After removing the bedding, technicians sectioned away portions of the mattress one layer at a time using a utility knife, and disposed of the affected materials as medical waste. As each layer was removed, photos were taken to document the damage and the work performed. Technicians finally disassembled the mattress springs using bolt cutters to ensure all biological material was removed.
