(Wheaton, IL) – When a Wheaton man committed suicide in the bedroom of his apartment, his landlord was left to handle the cleanup. Rather than attempt to clean the unit on his own, he chose to call in Aftermath to remediate the death scene. During their investigation, technicians noted an extreme amount of bio fluids on the mattress, mattress protector, bedding and pillows. There were also fluids on the walls behind and next to the bed.
First, technicians disposed of the large amount of bedding and, using a utility knife, removed the mattress cover and placed the affected sections into bio waste containers. Technicians continued this process for each layer of the mattress until all medical waste was separated and disposed of properly. Finally, the walls and floors were cleaned and sanitized, leaving the apartment safe and ready for future occupation.
